YTC’s programs in Africa emerged through former CEE & CSP fellows who, after participating in the program, brought the model back to their home communities. What began as individual initiatives has grown into ongoing partnerships across the region.

Programs on the African continent officially launched in 2022 and continue to this day, expanding access to robotics and technology education through YTC’s peer-to-peer, hands-on learning approach.

YTC trains teachers from its partner school, Haile Manas Academy, who now lead and support programs across the region. This reflects the growth of the “students into teachers” model, strengthening local leadership and scalability. Students also record and upload sessions to YouTube, creating accessible learning resources that help address ongoing connectivity challenges.

Mozambique

In Mozambique, YTC works with a new generation of middle and high school students who are entering the robotics pathway. Participants build foundational technical skills while strengthening the program’s long-term sustainability and reach within their communities.

In 2025, four students and two teachers from the program participated in a cultural exchange in Chicago, spending two weeks with YTC students from both Mexico and the United States.

YTC has been working for three years with two active programs: one at ODEC (Open Doors Education Centre) in Swakopmund and another at Zanele Mbeki Private School in Windhoek.

In 2025, YTC also brought eight students from the United States to Namibia for an in-person cultural exchange, where they met local students, led sessions together, and experienced the country firsthand.

YTC is currently developing a Virtual Robotics Camp that integrates robotics with introductory AI learning, expanding access through a flexible, virtual format.

Sierra Leone

YTC launches a new program in 2026 in collaboration with local partner GUIDE. As part of this initiative, five computers are donated to support implementation and ensure students have access to the necessary technology—marking an important step in expanding YTC’s presence in West Africa.
